Round Table - 6th of July

We are pleased to announce we will be holding two round tables in Zoom on Tuesday, July 6th from 5:00-6:30 pm CET. It will consist of short presentations from each of our panelists, followed by a discussion/Q&A session. Information on how to access the meetings is available below. 

Our panelists will focus on the professional context (career path), advices for Early Career Professionals (ECP) in Marine Science, Essential/Transferable Skills ECP should have/look into and challenges as well.

Katie O'Dwyer

Katie O'Dwyer

Katie is a lecturer at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) where she teaches general subjects in aquatic ecology and marine biology. Her research at the Marine and Freshwater Research Centre in GMIT is focused on host-parasite interactions and understanding parasite transmission in a range of environments.

Alyssa Joyce

Alyssa Joyce

Alyssa is a Docent / Associate Professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Her research focuses on addressing challenges in aquaculture production, specifically raising, harvesting and handling seafood safely, profitably and sustainably.

Patricia Cabrera

Patricia Cabrera

Patricia is a former IMBRSea student and for over a year now a member of the Data Centre in the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) in Belgium. As a data manager, her work focuses on the integration of new types of biological observations in the European marine data infrastructures. Some of the projects she is involved are the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Blue-Cloud project and the Joint European Research Infrastructure for Coastal Observations (JERICO).

Elizabeth Atchoi

Elizabeth Atchoi

Elizabeth is a PhD candidate researching light pollution and its effects on seabird ecology. She is a MSc EMBC alum with over a decade experience in marine ecology and citizen science projects.

Mohammed Mofizur Rahman

Mohammed Mofizur Rahman

Mohammed is a transdisciplinary Environmental Researcher from Bangladesh, currently based in Cologne,Germany. He works as a Research Associate at the Institute for Technology and Resources Management for the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) in the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. In addition, he is acting as an academic instructor and lecturer to Anant Fellowship for Climate Action (a yearlong immersive global program on climate solutions) at Anant National University in Ahmedabad, India.

Ana Rodriguez

Ana Rodriguez

Ana is a Science Officer at the European Marine Board. Previously she did a joint PhD degree at Heriot-Watt University and University of St Andrews (UK), where she studied larval behaviour, dispersal and recruitment of the European oyster Ostrea edulis to inform oyster habitat restoration efforts across Europe. Ana has experience working on marine conservation topics at WWF as well as at the European Commission, where she spent one year as a trainee in the Nature Protection unit of DG Environment.

Martin Romain

Martin Romain

Martin is the Chief Technical Advisor to the United Nations Development Program for the Ridge to Reef Project implemented in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. His expertise is in ecosystem conservation, community-based natural resource management, project management, and grant writing.

Henriette Grimmel

Henriette Grimmel

Henriette is the Program Director at the Save Our Seas Foundation D’Arros Research Centre (SOSF-DRC) in the Seychelles. She is involved in marine research in the field on juvenile sharks and rays, reef mantas, turtles, seabirds and more, alongside which she manages the SOSF-DRC's education and capacity building programmes. Her expertise lies in marine spatial planning and she represents the Save Our Seas Foundation in the current implementation phase for the marine protected areas (MPAs) at D’Arros and St. Joseph.
