Óscar Ferreira is an Associate Professor at the University of Algarve holding a BSc and a MSc in Applied and Economic Geology and a PhD in Marine Sciences – Coastal Dynamics. He works in Coastal Dynamics, Coastal Risks and Coastal Management and participated in more than 20 national and international research projects, being coordinator of several national research projects and member of several coordination commissions, including at the European projects MICORE and RiscKIT (FP7), both devoted to risk analysis at coastal areas and assessment of risk reduction measures. He published more than 150 articles in international journals on topics related to coastal evolution, dynamics, risks and management and has a large experience on students’ supervision at MSc and PhD level. He was the coordinator of the PhD programme on Marine, Earth and Environmental Sciences and of the MSc on Marine and Coastal Systems, from UAlg. He is currently on the direction board of the BSc on Marine and Coastal Management.
